shotgun adapters

Post by pilsbury38 on Sun Dec 16, 2012 2:30 pm

Has anyone ever messed with them? I bought my son one for his 20ga h&r so he could fire a 22 shell as well. They are pretty neat. The idea was he would be able to do a little bird huntin while checking his traps and if needed be able to fire a 22. Thinking about trying the 410 adapter for my 20ga as well, just wonder how much the pattern would open up out of the 20ga barrel.

I bought one over 40 yrs ago, never used it. I don't remember which caliber or gauge it is. I don't know where it is either.

On another note, I saw a kid shooting twin 410 adaptors in a double barrel 12 ga at a Cowboy match. He was knocking down the targets at 10-12 yards.

I got a 410 to go in my 20ga. Gonna try it out this weekend if the rain stops. My 20 is full choke so wouldnt it seem shootin the 410 out of it that it would be more like mod choke. Trying to figure out what i want for a bunny gun, shot a cottontail last weekend close range with the full 20 and it was overkill.

I used a Savage over/under to hunt rabbits with as a teen. It was 20 ga, full choke under a 22 lr on top. It worked great. I aimed for the head when I could.

I'm not sure how the full choke would translate with that adaptor. Curious to know though.

Well went bunny huntin with my daughter this afternoon but we didnt see a thing, very warm here for this time of year but its suppose to be back in the 30's tomorrow so we will try again. I took the 410 adapter but didnt get any shots off, still need to shoot some paper with it & see how it patterns out of the 20 barrel. If it works like i think its gonna then i will be forced to get a 28 adapter for the 12ga cause i have to believe a close range that would throw a wall of bb's! Which would be great for jumpin cottontail in thick cover. So many ideas so little money! Lol
