smoothbore slug shooting
Does anyone know why they say a full choke is not as accurate as a modified when shooting slugs. I took my h&r single 20ga with fixed full choke the other day and just for fun put a target at about 25yrds. Took three shots freehand with only a bead and was surprised that i had about a 2inch group maybe even a little less than 2inch. Toying with the idea of getting it drilled and tapped for a scope rail just to see what it can do.

I believe it because some manufacturers full chokes are tighter than others. Thus, it may squeeze and constrict the slug more. This will not only affect accuracy, but may possibly raise pressures as well.

Well, I don' t know.
You might want to pull a slug from your ammo and mic it. Then contact H&R and give them the measurement and ask them.
I have contacted them in the past and found the tech departmart to be quite friendly and helpful.
Good Luck
