mystery lead may not be a mystery now
I got this hunk of lead at an auction. had no idea what the alloy is.
I smelted down and casted some up. I did something I rarely do, I got the mold too hot. if it was an alloyed lead it would be some type of frosting. the lead was also really hot. could not find my thermometer so I could not test the leads temp.
took two mins to cool the spur.

all the test I am able to do. high tin alloy. most likely pewter.

Corey, if you want to send me one bullet, I will do a hardness test for you and give you the BHN. This might give us an idea of tin/antimony content.

already melted them back down and are in ingots. temped the melt just around the 500degree.

Offer still stands when you cast, if you are interested.

I bought a lee hardness tester, tested one of the ingots (it works if you play with it a little). bhn of 33. lino is at 30. what is harder?
