powder coating bullets
I am working getting all the stuff needed to test how powder coated bullet will do in a muzzleloader. I have doing alot of research on the matter found a few videos on youtube about it. one of which showed someone using a air brush gun to distribute the powder paint. I am going to try a hybrid method.
I am going to warm my bullets up and spray them with the paint. then cure them in a toaster oven.
going to test to see how much it will add to the bullets diameter, how much weight it is going to add, how it effects the accuracy, if I can add diameter to full bore bullets, how it reacts to the charge, how much foul it leaves, what type of foul it leaves, and how hard it hits.
bought a new air brush gun and just 3ozs of matte black made for fishing lures to test with. if it works well, when I goto harbor freight next, I will buy a pound of powder paint.

Re: powder coating bullets
forget about the air brush, order a powder coat gun. lol
also doing fluidized bedding, method of making powder act like liquid. I am getting close. I will test these when I get home from fl. they are not pretty.
9mm bullets.
made some mistakes on this, did not clean them before coating, used alox, and cured at too high of a temp. the pencil cup work well, next set I make, I am going to clean the bullets and just preheat them.
just gotta figure out the right number of bullets in the cup or come up with an vertical hold system. some do have a nice bronze color to them lol.
the system I like
added a 4" coupler to the top to add a little more powder once I get some more.
